Selection of gag cartoons by Alex King for the Australian Woman's Weekly circa 1930's - 40's. I've found little information about Alex King other than he was a friend of Noel Cook and Ginger Meggs second artist Ron Vivian and worked for many of the newspaper markets of the time including Smith's Weekly. If anyone knows more about King's life and work I'd love to hear from you.

I guess it's the same Alex King.
in 1961 I walked out of high school into ACP Telegraph as dog's body for press artists of whom Alex King was one.
Mr King was a top bloke. Father of six and worked all sorts of shifts doing layouts, photo retouching, and the Saturday race pics.
He was a top prankster. I'd arrive early in the morning to find him acting the monkey up near the high ceiling hanging from the internal plumbing grunting and scratching and making me feel it was beaut to be in the biz.
